Electro-Technical Officer Updating Course

Course Objective

This Electro-Technical Officer Updating Course is intended for Filipino seafarers who have gained in-service experience of not less than 36 months of seagoing service performing tasks, duties and responsibilities relevant to the capacity as Electro-Technical Officer in the engine department of seagoing ship(s) powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more but not yet holding Certificate Competency under the STCW Convention. Convention, 1978, as amended.

Target Groups

Trainees enrolling in this course shall have not less than a aggregate of thirty-six (36) months seagoing service, of which:

  • not less than 12 months of the required aggregate seagoing service must be gained within January 01, 2012 and January 01, 2017;

  • involves the performance of tasks, duties and responsibilities relevant to the capacity as Electro-Technical Officer in the engine department of a seagoing ship of 750 kW propulsion power or more as evidence by the following:

    • Seagoing service record with company seal

    • Photocopy of the SIRB's first page and all page with record of sea service indicating any of the following ranks:

      • Electro-Technical Office; or Chief Electrician; or Senior Electrician; or Electrician; or Electrical Officer; or Electrical Engineer; or Electronics Engineer; or Electro-Engineer; or Instrumental Engineer; or Other relevant capacity or position supported by:

        • Certified true copy of the duties and responsibilities or job description specified in the company's Quality Management System Manual and

        • Crew list with company seal

In addition, they must present a valid medical certificate (for sea service duty) issued by DOH accredited medical clinics.
