Basic Training for Ship's Subject to the IGF Code 

Course Objective

This course provides education and training to all seafarers responsible for designated safety duties associated with the care, use and emergency response of vessels using fuels within the IGF Code. The course covers those parts of the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency (KUP) requirements specific to fuels covered within the IGF Code, as set out satisfying section A-V/3 -paragraph 1 of the STCW Code, Function: Operation of ships subject to the IGF Code.

All seafarers that handles gas and low-flash point fuel vessels

Advanced Training for Ship's Subject to the IGF Code

Course Objective

An advanced training for Masters, engineer officers and all personnel with immediate responsibility for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on ships subject to the IGF Code, satisfying section A-V/3 -paragraph 2 of the STCW Code, referred to as the 'Advanced IGF Training'.

Target Groups

Masters, Engineer Officers and all personnel with immediate responsibility for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on ships subject to the IGF Code

  • Safe operation of a ship subject to the IGF Code

  • Prevent hazards on a ship subject to the IGF Code

  • Apply occupational health and safety precautions and measures

  • Firefighting operations

  • Respond to emergencies

  • Prevent pollution of the environment from the release of fuels found on ships subject to the IGF Code

  • Physical and chemical properties of fuels aboard ships subject to the IGF Code

  • Operates controls of fuel related to propulsion plant and services and safety devices on ships subject to the IGF Code

  • Safe bunkering, stowage and securing of the fuel on board ships subject to the IGF Code

  • Monitor and control compliance with legislative requirements
